About

Recover with Dignity.

The Drumheller Society for Recovery exists to provide rehabilitation and support for men addicted to alcohol/drugs who have the desire and initiative to choose an alternate life style and be integrated into the community.

A 90 to 120 day 12-Step residential program serving addicted men. Residents participate in group sessions each morning (15 hours each week), scheduled regular one-on-one counselling sessions in the afternoon. Residents are required to attend 7 self help groups each week (AA, NA, CA in the evenings. In order to graduate the program, residents must complete all 12 Steps within 9o days, complete a relapse prevention module as well as an aftercare plan. Residents will be provided with referrals to second stage housing, other housing as well employment agencies.

Meals are provided as well as snacks, and laundry facilities are provided as well. Medications are secured, and documented by staff only. Residents participate in weekly Yoga and have access to different service providers such as anger management.

Residents also participate in the work therapy program (Odd Job Squad), which is considered a vital component in their recovery. The Odd Job Squad provides lawn and yard care in the summer months, snow removal during the winter months and furniture moves for seniors and disabled members of the Drumheller community. Grace House residents earn a wage for their work, feel a part of active society as well as teamwork, attitude and work ethics, which is a win/win situation. Community members can remain in their homes longer, while residents of Grace House re-learn work skills which may have been lost to addiction.
